FAQs

  • Rosie is located on the fringe of the Adelaide CBD at Cottage Studios, 42 Light Terrace, Thebarton, Adelaide SA 5031

The studio entrance is located through the carpark, via the side courtyard. Come in through the black sliding doors and feel free to make yourself comfortable in the waiting room.

If you are coming via public transport, the Thebarton tram stop is at the end of Light Tce, and only a short 5 min walk to the studio.

Buses also travel regularly from the city via George St, which is the next parallel street to Light Tce.

You’re also welcome to jump online and we can work remotely!

  • Sessions book quickly, so you are encouraged to plan ahead and secure your spot in advance. If you’re looking for a lesson at short notice, please email your enquiry to  hello@rosiehosking.com with your preferred time. You will be placed on the waitlist and contacted if anything opens up — we’ll always do our best to fit you in where we can!

  • Credit card facilities are available at the studio. Direct deposit can also be made by arrangement.

  • Your time and Rosie’s are both valuable. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please give at least 24 hours notice. Changes made with less than 24 hours notice will incur the full lesson fee.

If something comes up and you can’t make it to the studio, it may be possible to switch your session to an online lesson — just make contact with Rosie soon as you can, and she’ll do her best to accommodate.

  • Absolutely — online lessons work beautifully! Many of Rosie’s interstate and overseas students work with her via Zoom, and the vast majority find there’s very little difference compared to being in the room with her.

You’ll still get the same tailored guidance, feedback, and exercises, and she can cover everything from technique to interpretation to audition prep. All you need is a stable internet connection, a device with a camera and microphone, and a quiet space to sing.

We can guide you through how to set up your space and sound for the best experience, and if you ever have questions or technical hiccups, we’re here to help.

  • Just bring yourself and an open mind — that’s the most important thing! In your first session, Rosie will spend some time discussing your vocal goals and how you’re hoping she can support you. It’s helpful to come with a few thoughts about what you’d like to work on, so you can dive into the nitty gritty together right from the start!

It can also be helpful to bring:

    • A notebook or journal to jot down breakthroughs, exercises, or questions.

    • Any sheet music, backing tracks, or lyrics for songs you’re currently working on (if applicable) or your current audition book.

    • A bottle of water to stay hydrated.

If you’re not sure what to prepare, don’t worry — Rosie will guide you through everything in your first session.

  • Of course — in fact, Rosie will encourage it! She also recommends keeping a journal to record your important breakthroughs and to note any challenges you encounter between lessons, so you can bring them up for discussion in your next session.

  • Rosie is a passionate advocate for developing voices and frequently works with children through schools, youth theatre groups, and extracurricular programs. She also delivers workshops for adult community singing and theatre groups.

Her private studio, however, is dedicated to supporting professional and emerging professional singers, so she does not offer private lessons to students under 16 or to beginners.

If you’re 16 or older and looking to develop your voice, Rosie’s small group workshops are a wonderful place to start — open to singers of all backgrounds and experience levels.

  • Packages and discounts are negotiated for regular clients. Feel free to discuss options with Rosie.
